About Bex

I am a self taught artist based in Western Massachusetts where I have been since completing my undergraduate degree at UMass Amherst. My goal with art is to have my pieces be vibrant and bold, filled with color and feeling. I usually paint with acrylics, although I dabble with oils every now and then. I am still developing my painting style, but I recently had an opportunity to visit the art scene in Santa Fe, and have been inspired by the rich colors and textures many artists incorporate into their works. I aim to develop more art that combines impressionism with pop art to create striking visuals.
I share my love of art with my love of theater. While in college I discovered my passion lay in building sets for theater, and during my senior year I worked as a Scene Shop Assistant to help build the set for the UMass Amherst Theater Dept’s production of Twelfth Night. I was also involved in building the sets for the Theater Department’s shows: The Hatmaker’s Wife, and They Don’t Pay? We Won’t Pay.
Prior to my involvement with the UMass Theater Department, I designed and built two sets of wings for a final performance in a dance class I took. I’ve also been able to work on projects independently, including designing and building an 8.5 foot tall tree for a filmed production titled Thief of the Moon in collaboration with the UMass Fashion Organization. Along with the work I’ve done with the UMass Amherst Theater Department, I have also spent time volunteering with local theaters, including the Amherst Community Theater, and the Double Edge Theatre.
